November’s Supermoon Over Lachman Lane (Photo)

One of our favorite photos this past year was sent by Michael Tillman after the November 14 supermoon, but was not published because it missed the News deadline. The moon sets over a home on Lachman Lane and the slight illumination in the homes’ windows is a reflection of the predawn light in the east. Scientists call it the perigee full moon, meaning the moon is at its closest point to the Earth. Before last year, the last supermoon was January 26, 1948, and it will not occur again until November 25, 2034. Photo: Michael Tillman
