‘Allergist’s Wife’ at Theatre Palisades Opens Friday

The final offering of the 2016 Theatre Palisades season is The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife, an offbeat comedy by Charles Busch. It will play at Pierson Playhouse on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. from Nov. 4 through Dec. 11.

The award-winning play is about a Manhattan doctor’s wife, Marjorie Taub, who is beset by a midlife crisis, much to the bewilderment of her self-involved husband Ira; her acerbic, eternally constipated Jewish mother Frieda; and Mohammed, the building’s doorman and Marjorie’s only friend, who loves to discuss art and literature, especially the novel Siddhartha by the German author Herman Hesse.

Their lives are upended by the arrival of a mysterious Lee Green, claiming to be Marjorie’s long-lost childhood friend—or is she?

Produced by Martha Hunter and Pat Perkins, and directed by Ria Parody Erlich, the play has a cast that includes Phil Bartolf, Lois Bostwick, Kim Kensington, Lauren Leitner and Bradley Orok.

Tickets (adults $20, seniors & students $18) are available at the box office, 941 Temescal Canyon Rd. Call: (310) 454-1970 or visit: theatrepalisades.com.
